TOAMASINA – Heavy goods vehicle traffic reorganized

Traffic flow and goods transport are critical issues for Toamasina, the economic capital of Madagascar. On October 12, 2026, Jovena and the Port of Toamasina Autonomous Management Company (SPAT) signed an agreement to support the development of the Toamasina Multimodal Logistics and Port Platform. The project includes the creation of two service stations designed to better organize heavy goods vehicle refueling and reduce pressure on urban roads.

The concentration of port and logistics activities requires better organization of truck movements. By consolidating certain operations within the platform, the project aims to facilitate supply chain operations. Carriers will be able to refuel and access parking and rest areas there.

The organization of heavy vehicle traffic directly affects the residents of Toamasina. A reduced presence of trucks on congested routes could help streamline traffic, reduce waiting times, and improve road safety. For merchants and businesses, the regularity of goods transport is also a key factor in maintaining their operations.

The impact will depend on the commissioning of the infrastructure and its integration into the general traffic management plan. Beyond fuel supply, the project addresses the broader issue of transport flow management in a city where port trade plays a central role.

The two service stations will incorporate over 400 square meters of service and relaxation areas. Catering facilities, terraces, modern restrooms, and rest zones are planned for drivers and logistics operators to improve their working conditions.

The facilities will include four high-flow distribution islands for heavy vehicles, Premium+ fuel, an AdBlue tank, and fast electric charging stations. A power supply largely based on solar energy is also announced.

Robin Carletti, CEO of Jovena, stated, “The Toamasina Multimodal Logistics and Port Platform is a structural project for the economic future of Madagascar. Through this partnership with SPAT, Jovena is leveraging its expertise, logistics network, and innovation capacity to support infrastructure destined to play a major role in the country’s trade development. This agreement illustrates our commitment to sustainably supporting national economic growth while offering transport professionals the most efficient energy and mobility solutions on the market.”

For his part, Heritiana Anicet Randriambahoaka, CEO of SPAT, emphasized, “The development of the Toamasina Multimodal Logistics and Port Platform requires solid partners capable of supporting our long-term vision. Through this collaboration with Jovena, we are strengthening the platform’s attractiveness while providing concrete solutions to the challenges of logistics fluidity, service quality, and operational performance.”
