The civil society organization of the Atsimo-Andrefana region has launched a regional consultation focused on reconstruction and development. One hundred and ten civil society associations from the nine districts that make up the region gathered for three days in Toliara.
“The objective is to gather the aspirations of civil society associations regarding what they mean by reconstruction and development. The resolutions will be drafted and sent to the national level. It should be noted that each of the twenty-four regions is organizing its own regional consultation,” explained Laurentia Rabe, the regional focal point.
Ten essential points were raised and deemed urgent to address for a genuine reconstruction of the Atsimo-Andrefana region. The restoration of security, the fight for human rights, and the consideration and resolution of the problem of community impoverishment, among others, are the top priorities.
