BASKETBALL – MINI-BASKET JAMBOREE – A Grand Finale for the Gathering

The curtain fell on Sunday on the National Mini-Basket Jamboree, organized by the Malagasy Basketball Federation (FMBB). For several days, budding young talents vibrated to the rhythm of matches bringing together clubs from various regional leagues. Having become an essential training appointment, the event confirmed its role as a springboard for future generations of Malagasy basketball.

The young basketball players played 3×3 and 5×5 matches in a format adapted to their age, prioritizing the joy of the game as much as technical progression. Beyond the results, the emphasis was placed on team spirit, fair play, and respect for the rules, which are essential values of mini-basket.

True to its educational mission, the FMBB also offered several workshops for children and their parents. The discussions focused on civic responsibility, responsible use of social media, and the best habits to adopt to build a top-level sports career. Participating clubs also received training manuals for coaches to standardize mini-basket learning across the country.

“The National Jamboree is not just a tournament. We want to transmit the spirit of competition, respect for discipline, and solidarity to our youth. The distribution of manuals will also allow coaches to better disseminate the philosophy of mini-basket,” explained Hasina Fanantenana Ramahandrimanana, President of the FMBB Technical Competition Commission.

The closing day was also marked by the notable presence of a young 10-year-old player who already stands 1.71m tall. Her potential was praised by the organizers, who gave her a special gift as encouragement.

Satisfied with the success of this edition, the President of the Mini-Basket Commission, Onja Soloharinivo, called on all stakeholders to continue their efforts to ensure the sustainability of this project, a true breeding ground for the future Ankoay.
