MANDROSEZA – Thieves steal equipment from Jirama

A theft of high-value equipment occurred at the Jirama facility in Mandroseza at the end of August. According to the Ministry of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene, this incident has led to several arrests. “During a field operation, the driver and the vehicle used to transport the equipment were caught in the act,” an official statement specified. Investigations conducted by the competent authorities have led to the recovery of a portion of the stolen items.

Inquiries and searches are ongoing to identify and apprehend all accomplices involved in this criminal act. The Ministry warns the public against purchasing suspicious equipment that may have originated from this theft, as well as against receiving or reselling these goods. “Anyone who buys, receives, holds, or sells stolen goods will face legal proceedings,” the institution warned.

Upon learning of the incident, the Minister of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene, Dr. Minosoa Anjaratiana Elia Razafindrianiaina, visited the site to assess the situation and take emergency measures. She was accompanied by the Minister of Energy and Hydrocarbons, the Minister Delegate in charge of the National Gendarmerie, the Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic in charge of Refoundation, and the Director General of Jirama.
