The U20 national basketball championship for boys and girls concluded on Sunday in Fianarantsoa. JCBA Analamanga for the boys and Dunamis Analamanga for the girls secured the titles after a tournament marked by strong performances and competitive finals.
In the boys’ category, JCBA quickly demonstrated its ambitions. Placed in a tough group, the Analamanga team shared the top spot with ASB Itasy after the group stage. With A’Ranty Rasetriarivony, recently the top scorer at the U18 Afrobasket in Abidjan, JCBA possessed a significant offensive weapon. The team navigated the knockout stages with enough control to reach the final.
JCBA defeated NBE Analamanga with a narrow score of 67-65. The two teams were tied at 65-65 with 26 seconds remaining. With four seconds left in regulation, JCBA led 67-65. After a timeout, NBE had a chance to tie the game but missed the shot at the buzzer.
In the girls’ category, Dunamis wrote a beautiful story in Fianarantsoa. After a convincing start to the competition, the Analamanga players grew in confidence. They defeated EBF with a score of 61-55.
In their group, they secured several victories, including a wide win against CBB (70-22), confirming their offensive capability and ambition to play a leading role. While MB2ALL Analamanga and EBF Haute Matsiatra were initially seen as the favorites, Dunamis defied the odds in the knockout phase, advancing through the quarterfinals and semifinals to reach the final and claim the national title.
This victory holds special significance for Dunamis. In 2025, the club showed promise by winning several group stage matches before finishing just off the podium. One year later, the Analamanga players have reached a new milestone.
