Madagascar aims to welcome one million tourists by 2028, three times its initial target. To achieve this, the country is focusing on the gradual opening of its airspace, the creation of new direct routes, and increasing flight frequencies.
As part of its recovery and gradual return, the national airline has just reopened its commercial agency located on Avenue Gillon in Mahajanga. This ticket sales point has resumed operations after several years of closure to better serve its passengers.
In this context, Madagascar Airlines is expected to revert to the name ‘Air Madagascar’ by the end of the year. The company reopened its Mahajanga agency last week, welcoming its first customers on Friday, July 10.
“This initiative is part of the transformation dynamic undertaken by the company to evolve its offerings. The reopening of the agency strengthens our presence in the regions, supports the development of the territories served, and reaffirms our role as the national airline,” a company official stated last Friday.
The airline has been offering about ten regular direct flights per week between Ivato Airport in Antananarivo and Amborovy Airport in Mahajanga for several years. Meanwhile, the direct route between Mayotte and Mahajanga offers an average of five flights per week, primarily operated by EWA Air with a flight time of approximately one hour.
