On Monday, September 7, fifty Chinese nationals sentenced by the Anti-Corruption Pole to prison terms ranging from two to ten years for online fraud were transferred to their country of origin.
The operation, conducted from the Avaradrano prison, was organized in cooperation with Interpol and the Chinese Embassy, under the responsibility of the Ministry of Justice and with the support of the Ministry of Public Security.
After a stopover in Addis Ababa, the convicts were scheduled to continue their journey to China, where they will complete their sentences. According to the information provided, the perpetrators were sentenced to two to five years in prison, while the leaders of the network received sentences ranging from five to ten years.
This procedure is part of the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime, ratified by Madagascar in 2005. It marks a first in the fight against digital fraud.
