A new power outage affected the Sapin Be fokontany, in the commune of Ambatofotsy Soamahamanina, Miarinarivo district, Itasy region, on October 16, 2026. The outage was caused by the theft of 400 meters of electrical cables by unidentified individuals. These repeated thefts of Jirama equipment are causing concern among residents, who are bearing the consequences. The entire village was plunged into darkness, disrupting the population’s daily activities.
Upon receiving the alert, Jirama technicians and law enforcement officers arrived at the scene. The technical teams accelerated the replacement of the stolen cables. Repairs have now been completed, and the power supply has been restored. According to explanations provided by Jirama, this intervention demonstrates its commitment to meeting the population’s needs and ensuring rapid service despite malicious acts targeting public property.
However, the intervention was not limited to repairs. Jirama and law enforcement brought a tracking dog from Ivato to locate and apprehend the perpetrator. The suspect had already fled, however, and could not be found during the operation.
