On the verge of the big leagues. The reigning Madagascar champion club, CFFA, has qualified for the second round of the African Champions League, following the last feat achieved by Fosa Juniors FC in 2019. After securing their qualification by eliminating Lesotho’s Lijabatho FC with a 3-1 aggregate score (2-0 in the first leg and 1-1 in the return leg of the first preliminary round), coach Franck Rajaonarisamba’s men will face Tanzania’s Young Africans SC in the second round. The first leg will take place between October 16 and 18, and the return leg between October 23 and 25.
Young Africans SC is the top club in its country, boasting 27 national championship titles, including five consecutive ones, eight cup victories, and nine Super Cups. If they qualify, the team from Andoharanofotsy will reach the big leagues: the group stage. Sixteen clubs divided into four groups of four will compete in this stage, scheduled from November to January 2027. The top eight, the two best-ranked from each group, will qualify for the quarter-finals. The first leg is scheduled between February 26 and 28, and the return leg between March 5 and 7, 2027. The semi-finals are scheduled for April 9-11 for the first leg and April 16-18 for the return leg. The grand final is scheduled for May.
