The show Miondam-boky (“delving into books”) from Vaovao 24-7, now rebranded as News 24-7, is back on track in a video format. The announcement was made yesterday at the Les Trois Métis hotel in Antaninandro during the official relaunch of the media outlet. “This change was made to give Malagasy people a taste for reading,” said its General Manager, Johary Ravoajanahary. Many Malagasy have abandoned reading, even though it remains a precious source of knowledge. Various works will be presented during the show.
News 24-7 is officially resuming its activities with several programs. Its schedule retains its flagship appointments, such as Solanga, hosted by Johary Ravoajanahary; Tranga Miafina, which continues to focus on the hidden sides of social events; the health show Salama e!, hosted by Dr. Manitra Rakotoarivony; as well as the column by Johary Ravoajanahary. A new segment, Aiza ’Zao, completes this offering, allowing viewers to catch up with personalities who have left their mark on Madagascar.
Another notable change is that some content will now be offered in French to reach a wider audience. “We want to move closer to the standards of journalism practiced in major democracies, thanks to a firm editorial independence and by prioritizing subjects with real informative value. It is an editorial requirement that we want to maintain in the long term,” he continued.
He added bluntly: “News 24-7 is not intended to please or displease. A media outlet should not choose information based on who it satisfies or disturbs. Our reason for being is much simpler: to inform with precision, clarity, and rigor.”
