Fire in Tsaralalàna: A father dies trapped in the flames

The fire that occurred on Friday evening in Tsaralalàna, which was reported in our columns on Saturday, has claimed the life of a father.

According to relatives, the fire started around 6:22 PM, likely due to a short circuit. Fanned by the wind, it spread rapidly, ravaging the first and second floors of the building and leaving only a few rooms on the ground floor intact. Firefighters arrived within minutes but were hindered by the narrowness of the alleys and the intensity of the flames. The 45-year-old victim reportedly attempted to save valuable belongings left inside. Overcome by smoke, he collapsed on the staircase. The fire lasted more than four and a half hours before being brought under control.

The house and its contents were completely destroyed, including the family’s savings, important documents, and school supplies for children preparing for their baccalaureate exams. Twelve families have been affected, and fifty-two people are now homeless.

Authorities visited the scene to provide support and distribute emergency aid.
