COMMEMORATION – The Ministry of Labor retracts its statement and announces a working day this Friday

The day of September 25 will ultimately not be a public holiday. The Ministry of Labor, Employment and Public Service indicates that the press release and the decree it published on Tuesday are “false”. “We inform you that the declaration indicating a non-working and paid day for September 25 is not true,” can be read on its Facebook page. This information was confirmed by the ministry, which provided no further details on what happened over the last 48 hours.

On Wednesday evening, the President of the Refoundation, Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, had already announced in New York that the Executive had taken no such decision. Before members of the Malagasy diaspora in the United States, he denied that a Council of Ministers had declared September 25 a non-working and paid day.

The decree declared “fake” by the ministry indicated that the decision had been made during the Council of Ministers on October 14. The last Council of Ministers dates back to Saturday, October 12, and the decrees announced as adopted during this executive meeting concerned the convening of the extraordinary session of the National Assembly, the declaration of a state of energy emergency, the renaming of the Michelot camp to General Paul Ralahy Camp, and the regulation of military chaplaincy services.
