Three podium finishes. Madagascar performed well at the 22nd African Zone 4 Swimming Championships, held in a 50-meter pool in Botswana from September 2 to 5. With a delegation of nine young swimmers, the team returned home with three medals.
Manuh Randrianarison, a swimmer from the Car Analamanga club competing in the boys’ 13-14 age category, won the silver medal in the 100m breaststroke and the bronze medal in the 50m breaststroke. Meanwhile, young swimmer Glorio Sampaniaina Koty from the East Coast Swimming Club (CNCE) of Atsinanana secured the silver medal in the boys’ 13-14 200m freestyle event.
Last year, the Great Island won ten medals, including six golds, four of which were claimed by Glorio in the 11-12 age category. He excelled in the 100m backstroke, 100m and 200m freestyle, and the 200m individual medley. Furthermore, the Atsinanana swimmer set two Zone 4 records in the 11-12 age group for the 50m butterfly and 100m backstroke, and was also named the best swimmer in his category.
