This Sunday, at the Palais des Sports in Mahamasina, Lalatiana will revisit the major milestones of her journey during a concert dedicated to memories, musical diversity, and sharing.
From her first steps on stage to her current compositions, Lalatiana is preparing to tell her story through music. Organized by Miritsoka, the concert is designed as a musical retrospective. “You will travel the path I have followed through my music,” she announced.
Through this event, the artist aims to introduce her musical evolution to younger generations who are less familiar with her repertoire and the various influences that have shaped her career.
Lalatiana emphasizes that this is not just an ordinary show. “It is not a spectacle, but a concert—a poised, elegant concert,” she clarified. Her musical universe is based on a fusion of traditional Highlands music, contemporary jazz, and acoustic variety. Through this diversity of sounds, she wishes to offer the public a moment of sharing faithful to her artistic identity.
For the occasion, Lalatiana will be accompanied by about ten musicians, all men, to enhance the energy and musical warmth she wishes to convey. She will be the only woman among the performers. Surprise male guests will also participate in certain segments of the concert, which will last over three hours.
At 62, Lalatiana began performing at age 11. In 1986, her participation in the RFI Discoveries contest marked a turning point in her career with the adoption of her stage name, Lalatiana. Since then, she has explored various musical styles, nurtured by her family environment and collaborations.
While this concert focuses on her past journey, Lalatiana continues her creative work. Several projects are in preparation, though she notes that she prioritizes artistic quality, which takes time. The public will also be able to discover or rediscover her most recently released song, “Atolotro ity,” a cover of a track by her father, the famous composer Albert Rajaofara. Lalatiana also affirms that her faith plays an important role in her life and artistic approach.
