Two houses were completely destroyed by a fire in Analamahitsy Tanana on Wednesday evening. The fire reportedly started from a poorly extinguished stove, and no casualties were reported.
On Wednesday evening, around 9:40 PM, two houses were ravaged by flames in Analamahitsy Tanana, opposite the Shop Liantsoa. According to local sources and initial findings by law enforcement, the disaster started from a stove used for grilling skewers and pakopako, installed in a room serving as a “cash point.” The fire was allegedly not completely extinguished and flared up suddenly, quickly engulfing the entire house.
The flames then spread to the room located at the back, where charcoal and vegetables were stored and sold. Both dwellings were rented by a merchant. In the fire, she lost 2 million ariary in cash, significant reserves of charcoal, as well as her daily utensils and effects: plates, spoons, pots, clothes, and blankets. However, no human loss or injuries were reported.
Police officers from the 8th arrondissement in Analamahitsy arrived quickly at the scene to secure the area and alert the firefighters. The latter intervened at 9:45 PM and completely brought the fire under control by 10:00 PM, preventing it from spreading to neighboring houses.
