IAVOLOHA – Colonel Randrianirina meets with Fasanikarana workers

Workers who lost their jobs following the closure of the Fasanikarana parking lot were able to present their grievances directly to the Head of State. Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, President of the Refoundation of the Republic of Madagascar, received them yesterday at the Iavoloha State Palace.

According to a post on the Refoundation of the Republic’s Facebook page, the Head of State announced that he would seek solutions to their requests. He also indicated that this situation provides an opportunity to formalize and standardize activities that could be carried out at the Amoronankona site.

The construction of small, standardized, and uniform stalls, space permitting, is among the options discussed. These facilities would be intended for the sale of various products and the creation of dining areas accessible to all. “These small structures will help ensure order and cleanliness, while giving all workers on-site the opportunity to pay clearly defined taxes,” the President stated.

The issue of passenger safety was also addressed. Colonel Randrianirina mentioned the possibility of creating an office for luggage porters to regulate their activities. “Scuffles and incidents involving passengers’ luggage will no longer be tolerated,” he affirmed, adding, “Our common goal is to have a modern and well-organized bus station at Amoronankona for the benefit of everyone.”

The Head of State noted, however, that a field visit remains necessary, in collaboration with the relevant authorities, to assess the space available for these future infrastructures. While awaiting the realization of these projects, he provided financial assistance to the workers received during the meeting.
