ACCIDENT AT AMBOHIDAHY – Driver’s son refuses to return to school

The youngest child of the bush taxi driver involved in the accident that left four dead and several injured near the Ambohidahy tunnel last Tuesday has yet to return to school. The psychological distress and grief felt by the child, linked to his father’s arrest and the subsequent legal proceedings, are cited as the cause.

Charles remains in detention at Tsaralalàna, according to his wife, Nomena Razafiarinanahary, who brought him food yesterday and described the hardships their family of four has faced since the accident. “Despite the situation, the family must keep moving forward and stay strong, especially because we have children to take care of. Our youngest child’s psychological state is one of the main difficulties the family is facing. While his two older siblings, both in their final year of high school, have been able to find comfort and continue their studies, the youngest has not been able to cope with this situation,” she stated.

According to his mother, the child was deeply affected by television reports when he saw images of his father and news regarding the accident. She added that, until now, the child refuses to eat and constantly asks for his father. For this reason, his schooling has been temporarily interrupted.

In this ordeal, the family finds strength and protection in prayer. Charles’s wife was at a place of worship on September 10 when she spoke with journalists. She explained that she is trying to entrust all these trials to prayer while awaiting the next steps of the legal process and for justice to be served. She also indicated that the family is already praying for all the victims’ families. Despite the difficulties her household is facing, she does not forget those who lost their lives or the families still dealing with the consequences of the accident.

Among the main support received by the family so far are messages of encouragement sent by various people.
