Madagascar intends to take advantage of the withdrawal of the Comoros and its exemption from the first preliminary round of the U23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The Malagasy Football Federation (FMF) plans to schedule a training camp for the Barea U23 during the international window at the end of this month and the beginning of October. This provides an opportunity to prepare the players before facing South Africa.
Nothing is official yet, but a source within the FMF reveals that friendly matches could be on the agenda for this window. “It will depend on the Federation’s financial resources,” our contact noted.
After his appointment as Team Manager of the Barea U23, Solonirina Raharijaona had mentioned the lack of time to prepare the Malagasy national team. With the withdrawal of the Coelacanthes, the management team and the technical staff will have the opportunity to test the squad before facing the Bafana Bafana U23 in November during the second round.
