The grand final of the elite D1 national championship will take place between two teams from popular communes of the capital this Sunday at the By-Pass.
A decisive final stage. The showdown of the Pure Play Football League (PFL) between the Andoharanofotsy Football Training Center (CFFA) and Ajesaia, two teams from popular capital communes, will be held this Sunday at 2:00 PM at the Elgeco Plus stadium in By-Pass. Both teams have had an flawless performance during the play-offs, the final phase of the Madagascar elite 1st division championship.
The Bemasoandro Itaosy team, a two-time champion of Madagascar, aims to reconnect with the title seventeen years after their previous crowns (2007, 2009). Meanwhile, the Andoharanofotsy club looks to replicate their 2022 achievement, when they secured their first title. Barely qualifying for the play-offs as the fourth-placed team in the South Conference, CFFA eliminated the defending champions, Elgeco Plus, in the semi-finals—winning 2-1 in the first leg at Iavoloha on June 14, and drawing 1-1 in the return leg at By-Pass.
CFFA previously eliminated the North Conference favorites, Cosfa, in the quarter-finals with a 2-1 victory in extra time. Ajesaia, the runner-up of the North Conference, knocked out Disciples FC, the dominant leader of the South Conference, in the semi-finals, having secured a 1-0 win in the first leg.
The 2024 national champion will be determined this Sunday, securing their spot to represent the country in the upcoming African Champions League. The registration deadline for the continental competition is July 20.
