INFRASTRUCTURES – Carion could obtain certification

A series of inaugurations took place this weekend as the Malagasy Football Federation, alongside representatives from FIFA, CAF, and COSAFA, and in the presence of high-level officials, unveiled two new facilities funded by the FIFA Forward project. The inauguration of the Carion National Technical Center took place on Saturday.

The center features four buildings, including a dormitory, an administrative office, a twelve-room refectory, an auditorium for 84 people, medical rooms, and a synthetic pitch with a 600-seat covered grandstand. Construction and renovation costs totaled $2.7 million, with work beginning in late 2024.

Federation President Alfred Randriamanampisoa noted that while the FIFA Pro artificial turf is already certified, adding another 600-seat stand would allow the facility to reach the 1,200-seat capacity required for full international certification.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated in a video message that the Forward program aims to provide member associations with the means to build their own future. Additionally, a ‘FIFA Arena’ mini-pitch was inaugurated at the Ambohibary Ampangabe public primary school in Ambohidratrimo on Sunday. Managed by a tripartite committee, this facility targets children aged 4 to 14 to promote grassroots football. Sports Minister Alain Désiré Rasambany has requested further support from FIFA to expand these youth facilities to other regions.
