The Director General of Jirama, General Hajatiana Rasolomanana, announced the establishment of a joint inquiry commission to shed light on the recent incidents that led to power cuts on the Antananarivo Interconnected Network (RIA). According to him, the commission is led by the Prosecutor General at the Court of Appeal of Antananarivo.
“Worrying things are happening at Jirama,” he emphasized during a press meeting this Monday afternoon. He mentioned, among other things, the presence of a tanker truck blocking access to one of the Ambohimanambola power plants at Behintsy on July 20. He recalled that this incident forced Jirama to shed up to 35MW of production. He also reported the power cut caused by a fire at the HFF power plant interconnection station in Ambohimanambola, which caused a total blackout on the RIA for one hour on Sunday evening.
According to the Director General of Jirama, these incidents have occurred since the beginning of the parliamentary inquiry into Jirama. Surrounded by company officials and union representatives of the state-owned enterprise, he did not hide his concern regarding these events, which he described as threats, and which, according to him, tend to blame Jirama for all failures.
