A man suspected of several crimes was arrested by the gendarmes on Monday around noon in Ambohimangakely. Already filmed during alleged thefts, he was the subject of a wanted notice and an arrest warrant issued by the justice system.
Plainclothes gendarmes from the local brigade were patrolling near the isolated house of Ikianja when they noticed this individual acting suspiciously. Thinking they recognized a wanted man, they took him to the brigade for questioning. Equipment allegedly used for injecting powerful drugs was reportedly discovered on him. Investigations reinforced the suspicions, and the suspect was placed in police custody.
“He is 24 years old and has no fixed address. According to the information gathered, he would hide after each theft. He is suspected of assaults, snatch thefts, thefts in taxis-be (public transport minibuses), and shop burglaries, as well as cannabis consumption. He has been filmed several times by surveillance cameras, which allowed us to have his image,” the gendarmerie indicated.
