TREATMENT – Babaïque on the road to recovery

Undergoing medical treatment in India since September, Babaïque’s health condition is improving. According to FalyBicky, a member of his group, his return to Madagascar is being considered for the end of November.

The news is encouraging for Babaïque. After several weeks of medical care in India, the artist is gradually regaining his strength. His condition is improving and he is now able to move around, although his treatment continues under medical supervision. “He is much better now and can move around,” says FalyBicky, who remains in contact with the singer. His return to the country could be expected towards the end of November, though no precise date has been confirmed yet.

The treatment remains focused on his heart failure. The medical team is currently working to stabilize his condition before planning further care. “He is still continuing his treatment. The doctors are primarily seeking to stabilize his condition, particularly regarding his heart failure,” FalyBicky specifies. For the moment, no artistic activities are scheduled for the singer, who must prioritize his recovery.

Arriving in India on September 3rd, the 55-year-old Babaïque had been ill for about a year. He had previously undergone several months of chemotherapy before his condition was complicated by the onset of heart failure. Initially treated at the Befelatanana hospital, he was later medically evacuated to continue his care and benefit from in-depth medical follow-up.

This evacuation required significant mobilization, made possible thanks to Mamy Gotso, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Ministry of Communication and Culture, the Manavao and Fanjiry associations, Fidelis Manager, as well as various artists, relatives, and associations. His family, facing significant medical expenses, had also launched an appeal for solidarity. They extend their gratitude to everyone who provided financial or moral support and continues to pray for his recovery.

Born David Baba Jean David on February 26, 1971, Babaïque established himself on the Malagasy music scene in the early 2000s. A singer-songwriter primarily working in variety and salegy, he became known for the track “Anao Tiako,” performed as a duet with Cynthia. He is also the author of “Ilaiko anao,” sung by Bodo, and “Mbo Ho Janga,” performed by Lianah. His last stage appearance was on May 1st at Mahamasina, during a show organized by the association of natives of the Antsiranana region. While awaiting his return, the singer must now continue his treatment until his health condition is stabilized.
