The traditional June 26th parade took place along the Toliara waterfront, where approximately sixty entities were presented to the public. Representatives from the public sector, led by the Armed Forces, security forces, and naval forces, marched first, followed by decentralized technical services, NGOs, and private sector representatives.
Students from middle schools, high schools, and universities, as well as athletes, also participated in the event. The Mahavatsy 1er Fokontany stood out, with its chief sounding a siren as they passed in front of the public and the authorities. Representatives from other fokontany drew attention with traditional dances set to rhythmic music from the South. The directive to wear traditional Malagasy attire was widely followed, starting with the head of the Atsimo Andrefana region, General Olivier Miandrisoa, who dressed in “Masikoro” style, complete with shorts, a black jacket, a felt hat, and the traditional staff.
Almost all department heads dressed in “Malagasy style” and “traditional” outfits, representative of the various ethnic groups in the Atsimo Andrefana region. The private sector, such as the company “Vara Mada,” was present, though in smaller numbers than in the past four years. About thirty individuals wore white, topped with handmade Malagasy hats. Construction, logistics, and transport companies, modeling agencies, and martial arts clubs concluded the parade. Nine civil servants were recognized with honorary distinctions.
