TECHNOLOGY – The CCIA is building the economy of tomorrow

The Antananarivo Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIA) aims to accelerate the digital transformation of the Malagasy economy. On June 19, in Antananarivo, it launched a conference dedicated to e-commerce and artificial intelligence (AI), in partnership with Goticom and under the aegis of the Ministry of Trade and Consumption.

Held under the theme “E-Commerce, AI and Value Creation: Building the Digital Economy of Tomorrow,” this two-day event gathers industry stakeholders to discuss the opportunities and challenges associated with new technologies.

The objective is to identify levers that allow for the utilization of artificial intelligence and digital tools to strengthen business competitiveness, develop new activities, and support economic growth.

For Goticom Vice-President Herizo Rakotondramanana, the choice of AI as a central theme reflects the profound changes currently affecting the labor market.

Digital Capabilities

While this technology may transform certain professions, it can also foster the emergence of new opportunities. “Companies and workers must adapt their skills to these developments,” he emphasized, particularly noting the importance of developing electronic commerce.

The government also intends to support this transition. Tahiry Rabenanahary, Director General of Operations and ICT Promotion at the Ministry of Digital Development, Posts, and Telecommunications, presented several programs aimed at strengthening digital capabilities. He specifically cited the ASANAI program, which supports nearly 1,000 young people, as well as Miary Digital, which supports over ninety small and medium-sized enterprises in the digital sector.

For his part, Tiava Rajonhson, Director General of Foreign Trade at the Ministry of Trade and Consumption, reiterated the strategic importance of AI for productive sectors. According to him, better utilization of these technologies could improve production, facilitate trade, and strengthen the capacity of Malagasy companies to access external markets.
