From July 17th to 19th, Toamasina will become a cultural crossroads where Malagasy and Reunion Island artists unite through music, dance, and solidarity.
For its inaugural edition, the Island Vibes Festival arrives in Toamasina with a clear ambition: to build a genuine cultural bridge between Madagascar and Reunion Island while highlighting the richness of the various Malagasy ethnic groups. Organized by Van Events Concept Prod, the event aims for sustainability, with the goal of establishing it as an annual gathering and developing artist residencies between the two islands.
The lineup features around twenty Malagasy artists, including Jack’Dad, Arnaah, Elidiot, and Sacaté Boy—a representative from southeastern Madagascar who gained prominence in 2023. Sacaté Boy is currently preparing a new song focused on reflections regarding the future and positive development. The festival will also host three international artists: Mickael Pouvin, MC Box, and Fafass, alongside top-tier dancers, choreographers, and musicians, including pianists and violinists.
A Human Dimension
Beyond the musical stage, the festival offers dance performances, traditional dances, and an influencer fashion show. The event, held at the Toamasina Arena with a daily capacity of approximately 12,000 people, is designed to be accessible and open to all audiences.
The organizers emphasize the human dimension of the project. They highlight their deep connection to Toamasina, where they have previously conducted humanitarian actions, and reiterate their commitment to building an event “with the people of Toamasina and for Toamasina.” Furthermore, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the reconstruction of schools destroyed by Cyclone Gezana.
Combining cultural diversity, artistic collaboration, and social commitment, the Island Vibes Festival is poised to become a major landmark event in the Indian Ocean region.
