Twenty-seven players make up the national team for the World Billiards Championships, which will take place in Cape Town, South Africa, from October 24 to November 1.
Madagascar intends to continue its presence on the world stage. The Malagasy Billiards Union (UBM) presented the country’s flag bearers on Friday for the IBF World Billiards Championships. The national team consists of twenty-seven players across four categories for the 2026 edition.
“We will do our best to find the necessary financial means to make this trip. We currently have 10% of the budget. We need between 8 and 10 million ariary per person to cover airfare, accommodation, and meals,” emphasized UBM president Tsinjohasina Rabeharisoa, known as Tesy.
The delegation has one month to bridge the budget deficit. The national association is seeking support from both private and public partners. The team members were presented on Friday evening at the Antananarivo Chamber of Commerce in Antaninarenina.
The Men’s Elite category will be represented by eight players, led by multiple-time national champion Daniela Andriamihaja. Having participated in the World Championships twice, Dani reached the quarterfinals two years ago in Malta. Eight players are entered in the women’s category, led by captain Ny Anjavola Heritiana Ralaivao. In the seniors’ category, seven players make up the team led by Solo Ratrimoarivony. Four players will also defend the national colors in the under-23 category, under the responsibility of captain Hardy Fisandratana.
These representatives of the Great Island are among the top eight in their respective categories following the twelve stages of the national championship, contested over eleven months. Each player will participate in the individual event and will also be involved in team and doubles competitions.
