Promoting the talents, heritage, and wealth of the Atsimo Atsinanana region is the core ambition of the Farafangana Festival 2026, officially launched by Telo Troky Vibration. Scheduled for August 1st and 2nd at La Résidence de Farafangana, the event aims to become an essential annual gathering, uniting the population around a cultural, artistic, and human-centric project.
The public will discover a rich program: local traditions, ‘vakodrazana’ music, handicrafts, landscapes, and the rhythms of Atsimo Atsinanana will be highlighted through a carnival, pirogue races, motorcycle races, artistic performances, volleyball, a traditional costume contest, workshops, round tables, stage entertainment, concerts, and an exhibition of local products. A conference-debate on sustainable development in the region will also be held on August 1st, focusing on entrepreneurship, governance, and local development.
The lineup will feature renowned artists such as Oladad, Majesty, Shekba, and Fayamash, alongside several local talents. The selection of guests reflects the desire to represent regional diversity, with Majesty coming from Manakara, Fayamash from Vohipeno, and Oladad representing Fianarantsoa.
For General Coordinator Maritra Manjaka, this project is the culmination of a six-year dream. ‘As an artist from Atsimo Atsinanana, I noticed that many talents in the region lacked opportunities. This festival is a way to offer them a real stage to showcase their creativity,’ he emphasized.
Set by the seaside, the main stage will take advantage of Farafangana’s natural setting. According to Olivia Rakotoarimalala, coordinator of partnerships and communication, ‘Farafangana remains little exposed on a national scale despite its strong potential: it is a musical hub, an important agricultural territory, and a tourist destination to be discovered.’
The organizers hope to welcome nearly 20,000 people. The technical team from Be Bose will manage the stage, lighting, sound, and technical effects to provide an unprecedented show in the region.
