Who will succeed Cyria Temagnombe, Miss Madagascar 2024, and represent Madagascar at Miss World 2027? The answer will be revealed in December 2026 at the grand national final of Miss Madagascar 2026. The Miss Madagascar Committee (CMM) announced that the event will take place on Saturday, December 19, 2026, in Antananarivo. The winner will represent the Great Island at the 74th edition of Miss World, scheduled to be held in Tanzania in May 2027.
Regional selection is already well underway. Fourteen of Madagascar’s 24 regions have already selected their representatives, along with a candidate representing the Malagasy diaspora. The process continues to complete the selection and ensure broader representation across the country’s various regions.
A new phase of application-based selection is set to open this Thursday, according to the CMM. The Committee emphasizes placing regions at the heart of the process to reflect the country’s diversity through the candidates. “This approach aims to allow young women from different regions of the country to carry their territory, history, and culture to the national stage,” explains Christelle Rakotoniaina, President of the Miss Madagascar Committee. The CMM also notes that it is working with regional committees to sustainably integrate the competition into a logic of proximity and representation of Malagasy diversity.
Preparations for the national final are also underway in collaboration with various partners. The Committee indicates that it has already secured the partner responsible for the air travel of the future winner for the international competition. According to the Committee’s statement, the hotel establishment that will host all candidates for activities related to preparation and the final has also been identified.
After a one-year hiatus, the Miss Madagascar pageant is back on track. The Committee had announced a few weeks ago that Madagascar would not participate in Miss World 2026, explaining that it wanted to devote more time to preparing for the country’s next participation. The future Miss Madagascar will thus be prepared to represent the Great Island at the 2027 edition of the global competition.
Madagascar has participated in Miss World since 2012 and has presented five representatives. Cyria Temagnombe, the latest Malagasy representative, participated in the 2025 edition. Before her, there were Antsaly Rajoelina in 2023 and Nellie Anjaratiana in 2021. The Committee maintains the “Beauty With A Purpose” philosophy for this new edition, which links the beauty pageant to commitment and community-focused projects.
