TABLE TENNIS – AFRICAN CHAMPIONSHIPS – Eight paddlers at the summit in Tangier

With a squad composed mainly of expatriates, Madagascar will be represented by eight table tennis players—four men and four women—at the African individual, doubles, and team championships. The continental summit will take place from October 18 to 25 in the city of Tangier, Morocco.

Seven of the Great Island’s representatives are expatriates. The only local player is the multiple Madagascar senior and junior champion, Ranto Océane Rakotondrazaka, who flew to Morocco on Wednesday. Two of the men are regulars in continental and world competitions, namely the 2024 Paris Olympian Fabio Rakotoarimanana and Antoine Razafinarivo, who were African doubles champions three years ago.

Brothers Tsilavo and Timiary Rabemanantsoa, who play in France, are joining the national team for the first time. On the women’s side, the team includes long-time national team members Hanitra Karen Raharimanana and Edena Prevot, alongside Vony Ange Randriantsoa, who is also joining the selection for the first time. Tsilavo and Timiary replace brothers Setra and Riva Rakotoarisoa. These representatives are initially covering their own travel expenses, which are expected to be reimbursed by the state at a later date.
