A building used as both a residence and a business caught fire in Malaza, in the rural commune of Tanjombato, Antananarivo Atsimondrano district, on November 1, 2026, around 6:45 PM. According to a source from law enforcement, the alarm was raised by local residents. They reported attempting to contact the fire department without success. A special unit of the Tanjombato National Police immediately arrived at the scene to assist in extinguishing the fire and securing the area to prevent the flames from spreading.
Thanks to this rapid intervention, the fire was brought under control in a short time, and the damage remained limited. A deep fryer and goods intended for sale were damaged. According to the owner’s explanation, the fire started from the deep fryer. No injuries or deaths were reported. The situation returned to normal entirely after the intervention of the law enforcement forces.
