Two women were shot on Thursday evening in Andavamamba; one of them succumbed to her injuries.
Rojoniaina Randrianarison, 32, a machinist for nearly 20 years in a free trade zone in Tanjombato, was waiting for a bus to return home to Ampasika when she was targeted by two armed individuals. According to witnesses, the two assailants, wearing jackets resembling those of law enforcement and each armed with a firearm, attempted to snatch her bag.
The young woman resisted and called for help. The criminals then opened fire, hitting her in the abdomen. Transported to the HJRA hospital, she did not survive the night. She leaves behind three orphaned children, the youngest of whom is 6 years old.
The other woman, 38, an employee at a local “cash point,” was hit by a bullet in the abdomen while passing by the scene. She was hospitalized and remains under medical supervision. According to the police report, the two men acted with cold-bloodedness, imitating the appearance of law enforcement to deceive their targets. Ultimately, no items were stolen.
