DIPLOMACY – Madagascar bets on cooperation with China

The cooperation between Madagascar and China is strengthening in several areas, particularly in defense and development. A meeting was held on August 20 at the Iavoloha Palace between the President of the Republic and the new defense attaché of the People’s Republic of China to Madagascar, who recently took office, as well as the Chinese Ambassador to Madagascar, Ji Ping.

This meeting reaffirmed the desire of both countries to consolidate their collaboration. Discussions focused on economic and professional sectors, which are considered key pillars of the partnership between Madagascar and China.

The stated objective is also to strengthen ties between the two countries and promote the exchange of expertise. In this perspective, special attention is being given to Malagasy products with export potential to China, in order to further develop trade.

In terms of training, Madagascar could also benefit from this cooperation. The country is among the first African nations to receive training aimed at strengthening the skills of its professionals through China.

Sino-Malagasy cooperation is thus part of a commitment to continue exchanges and diversify areas of collaboration, with a particular focus on economic and professional development.
