The best performance of her career. Germany-based athlete Claudia Toly Henri fell just short of the title, settling for the silver medal at the Amateur Muay Thai World Championships in Kosovo on Thursday evening. Representing Germany, the Malagasy fighter was defeated by Finland’s Eava Photo in the -54 kg category final at the Rughdi Ramosay Sports Hall.
She held her own in the first round before being counted in the second. “I fell after taking a blow. I tried to get back up, but the referee continued the count and stopped the fight,” said Claudia, who was not entirely convinced by the decision. “I am still satisfied with my result. I need to work more on my cardio and clinch,” she acknowledged.
Six fighters competed in her category. Claudia had defeated Hungary’s Eniko Horvath Toth in Tuesday’s semi-final after overcoming Ireland’s Setareh Morshedi in the quarter-finals. Invited by the event organizer, FA Group, Claudia Toly Henri secured her first professional victory in Thailand in mid-June, following her first title of the season won in Germany in May.
