The grading process for the baccalaureate exam began yesterday, with teachers identifying errors in several subjects. Discussions in Antananarivo centered on science papers, specifically mathematics and physics-chemistry, where teachers noted inaccuracies.
Mathematics teachers highlighted issues in the Series C paper, including a geometry exercise worth 4.75 points with a mislabeled point, and errors in a functions question. In the Economic and Social Sciences (SES) series, teachers were surprised by a financial table question that had not been covered in the curriculum.
The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research acknowledged the errors, which the Director General, Professor Angelo Raherinirina, attributed to spelling mistakes or missing data. He noted that since 2023, designers must prepare three subjects per series instead of two, increasing their workload. However, he emphasized that these errors would not impact candidates’ grades, as corrections were made before the exams, and no bonus points will be awarded.
While such errors occur annually, the Ministry stated they are fewer than in the previous session. Discussions are underway to reform the system, including consolidating the seven current series into three main tracks: Literary, Scientific, and Economic and Social Sciences, alongside improved subject design and validation processes.
