The abolition of the A, C, and D series in the baccalaureate is causing disorganization in private schools, with teachers struggling to adapt. The start of the school year has proven difficult for private institutions due to uncertainty regarding the curriculum to be adopted.
Many teachers were caught off guard by the announcement. A physics and chemistry teacher at a private school noted that they had prepared lessons based on the old curriculum, only to be told at the last minute to switch to the new one. The implementation of this reform is hindered by a lack of resources and support. Miora Ranaivoarison, a French teacher in Ankadindramamy, lamented the lack of training and the fact that only a pedagogical guide was provided by the state.
Consequently, several schools have chosen to maintain the old system for now, citing the absence of textbooks and teacher training. School administrators are also concerned about the possibility of the state reversing the decision due to public dissatisfaction. Students, such as Hainiavo and Christiano, are equally confused about their future exam paths.
While many schools remain hesitant, some that have been experimenting with the reform since 2019 are adapting without major difficulties. Private school representatives are scheduled to meet with the Ministry of National Education today to discuss the reform.
