At just 12 years old, Areyanna Raharinosy is preparing for a new international challenge. As the U14 vice-champion of Madagascar and ranked 42nd in Africa in her category, the young Malagasy tennis player will participate in the U14 African Championship in Morocco from September 7 to 12, thanks to a Wild Card and the financial support of her parents.
For Areyanna Raharinosy, this continental summit is her third international tournament of the year, following stages in Mauritius and Zimbabwe. Her performances earned her a Wild Card invitation, rewarding her progress and potential.
At 12, the young player, who is also ranked in the 4th series for women in Madagascar, is entering a category where she will face more experienced opponents. The presence of the African U14 Top 20 will give a special dimension to her journey. The goal is primarily to gauge her level, measure the gap with the continental elite, and accumulate valuable experience for the future.
Her time in Harare was already a first confrontation with the high-level U14 circuit. She lost in the first round to Zimbabwean Cloé Hayes (0-6, 0-6), a defeat that is nonetheless part of a learning process.
Nationally, Areyanna confirmed her qualities by reaching the final of the Madagascar U14 Championship, before losing to Onintsoa Ramanampanoharana.
With her 42nd African ranking, her young age, and international experience still under construction, Areyanna approaches Morocco without complex. The challenge will be to reach a new milestone, gain match experience, and measure the path to take to gradually get closer to the African Top 20.
Other young Malagasy players were also expected to participate in this African summit. However, they were unable to finalize their administrative procedures in time.
