The Malagasy Football Federation (FMF) and regional leagues have adopted amendments to the statutes and the electoral code. These changes will take effect from the next election, scheduled for the end of 2027.
The electoral college of the FMF will consist of forty-one delegates during the next elective general assembly. This modification was adopted on Saturday afternoon at the Carion auditorium during the federation’s ordinary general assembly.
The amendments were initially proposed during the assembly in Antsirabe at the end of March but were postponed. While the initial project planned for forty-seven voting delegates, the final number was set at forty-one, with the aim of limiting corruption risks. Sixteen out of the twenty-one represented regional leagues approved the new texts.
The electoral college will now include other football stakeholders alongside regional leagues. The two new leagues, Fitovinany and Ambatosoa, will participate. Additionally, top-ranked clubs from the elite first division and regional first division will have representatives based on the previous season’s rankings.
Nine associations, including those for referees, coaches, women’s football, futsal, beach soccer, supporters, former players, sports journalists, and football academies, will also have representation. Furthermore, executive committee members will now be elected via a list-based ballot rather than individual positions.
The current mandate, led by Alfred Randriamanampisoa, is set to end on October 23, 2027. The elective general assembly was attended by representatives from international football bodies, including Gelson Fernandes, Fatou Binetou Ba N’Diaye, Karishma Inayat, Ghezal Reda, and Malagasy official Sanda Rasamoelina.
