With its vast maritime space, Madagascar faces several challenges related to maritime security, the protection of marine resources, and the fight against illicit activities. To address these issues, the Malagasy Navy and the Maritime Information Fusion Center (CFIM) are organizing a national workshop on maritime governance and security from July 15 to 17.
Supported by the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) through the Safe Seas Africa and EU CRIMARIO projects, and funded by the European Union, this workshop aims to produce recommendations to consolidate the national maritime security architecture. The objective is also to support the development of the blue economy and strengthen maritime cooperation in the Western Indian Ocean.
The meeting will bring together institutions involved in State Action at Sea, relevant administrations, as well as technical and international partners. Discussions will focus on strengthening coordination between stakeholders, improving information sharing, and establishing a common vision to address maritime challenges.
