CONCERT – Ambondrona rekindles the fervor at the Coliseum

For its grand return to the Coliseum Antsonjombe, the band Ambondrona once again succeeded in its bet: fans of several generations showed up and let themselves be carried away by the group’s greatest hits.

From the very first notes, including “Misy fetra,” the Coliseum was swept up in the atmosphere. The audience stood up, sang, and danced, setting the tone for an evening that blended fervor and nostalgia. Young and old gathered around Ambondrona to celebrate 25 years of career and a musical history built over seven albums.

The group drew from different periods of its repertoire, from early tracks to more recent ones. “Nivadika,” from their second album, found its place in this musical journey, before “Ajanony any” raised the energy level even higher. The audience went wild, singing along and dancing. “Eny sa tsia” continued this dynamic, with the entire Coliseum focused on the stage.

Beyond the excitement, nostalgia and emotion also marked this celebration. During “Tena fitia,” hands were raised in unison, and the voices of the audience blended with those of the band. “Miandry aho” extended this suspended moment, with spectators singing the song in chorus. “Mahagaga,” from the fourth album, was also part of this anniversary repertoire, testifying to the loyalty of a public that has remained present after 25 years of music.

For this anniversary event, the group opted for a unique stage configuration. Set in the center of the Coliseum, the stage was spread over two levels, allowing the musicians to face different directions and play to spectators all around.

Three large screens allowed the concert to be followed from different points of the Coliseum. Lighting effects and smoke machines accompanied the performances, and a fireworks display marked the show. The sound quality highlighted the group’s professionalism, maintaining a festive atmosphere throughout the event.

The 25th-anniversary celebration began in March 2026 at La City and continued in several cities, including Fianarantsoa, Mahajanga, and Antsirabe. It is set to continue until 2027, with stops planned in the Sava and Tolagnaro regions. Ambondrona has also built an international presence, with performances in the Indian Ocean, South Africa, Europe, the United States, and Canada.

At the Coliseum, Ambondrona reconnected with a loyal, multi-generational audience, measuring the strength of a bond built over a quarter-century. And the story is not over: a new album is currently in the works.
