Finding funding, accessing new markets, or growing a business—these challenges remain daily realities for women entrepreneurs. They will be at the heart of the National Congress of the Group of Women Entrepreneurs of Madagascar (GFEM), scheduled for September 17 and 18 in Antananarivo. Nearly a hundred participants and delegates are expected for this second edition organized in the Analamanga region.
“About 30% of companies are led by women,” notes Fanja Razakaboana, President of the Group of Women Entrepreneurs of Madagascar. Their presence spans several sectors, yet persistent obstacles remain, particularly regarding access to finance and markets.
Over two days, discussions will focus on issues directly related to business operations. Leadership, financing, professional image, positioning, business development, and risk management will be addressed. The goal is to enable participants to leave with useful knowledge and contacts for their activities.
The network currently includes ten regional associations, nearly two hundred women entrepreneurs, and represents more than four hundred and fifty companies. Beyond exchanges between members, the congress aims to strengthen ties between different regions and open new possibilities for collaboration. A pop-up shop will also allow participants to showcase their products and services, turning meetings into concrete contacts and, for some, commercial opportunities.
On Friday, September 18, some sessions will be open to non-member women, allowing them to discover the exchanges and opportunities offered by this community. For Fanja Razakaboana, empathy is one of the qualities that characterize women entrepreneurs. “They need to be supported,” she emphasizes. Under the theme “From Belonging to Action,” these two days aim to strengthen a dynamic based on exchange, mutual aid, and collective action.
