Another podium finish. Soamiangaly Rabeson, a 16-year-old expatriate talent from the Grand Lyon Academy in France, narrowly missed the gold in the -52kg final, securing the silver medal on Saturday at the International Open of Poissy held in Montargis, France. Soa was defeated by a Portuguese competitor with a score of 0-2 in the final. In the semi-finals, the daughter of multiple French Masters champion Liva Rabeson defeated a Czech opponent 2-0, following a quarter-final victory over a British athlete (2-0).
Forty-eight countries were represented at this international tournament. Soa previously won gold at the Poissy Open in early February this year and a silver medal in the -46kg category at the same tournament in February 2025. As a 15-year-old—the daughter of the triple French champion (twice in Masters II and once last year in Masters III)—she was previously moved up to the Olympic -49kg category instead of her usual -46kg, where she earned a bronze medal at the Korean Ambassador’s Cup in December 2024.
