TOURISM – A convention strengthens sector skills

The Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts (MTA) and Stephen Business School (SBS) signed a partnership agreement early this week in Antananarivo, aimed at strengthening the skills of tourism and handicraft professionals in Madagascar.

The agreement, signed by Minister Marie Lucie Vololoniaina and Daniel Saramandif, international tourism consultant and President of the Association of Tourism Professionals, establishes a strategic framework for collaboration between the two parties.

This partnership notably provides for the analysis of training needs among sector operators, the design of tailored training programs, and the implementation of joint actions to support the professionalization of tourism and handicraft trades.

Under this convention, the ministry will provide institutional support by facilitating the distribution of a needs assessment questionnaire and ensuring the centralization of the data collected. For its part, Stephen Business School will make its academic expertise available, develop targeted training programs, and offer twelve scholarships to the Malagasy state, represented by the ministry.

Through this initiative, both partners aim to better meet the expectations of professionals, improve service quality, and contribute to the sustainable development of Madagascar as a destination.
