Vohipeno. A medical caravan, dubbed the “Caravan of Smiles,” is traversing these areas from July 1st to July 10th. “The caravan develops the strategy of local care, which is part of our strategies within our cooperation program. Therefore, with the Ministry of Public Health, we have mobile clinics deployed in the regions. When AFG Assurance approached us to initiate the ‘Caravan of Smiles,’ it aligned perfectly with our strategies. So, we decided to embark on this journey together throughout the ‘Caravan of Smiles’,” says Yves Toalo, representative of the Fondation Atlantique Groupe, which is organizing this initiative in partnership with AFG Assurance and the Ministry of Public Health.
“Several health services will be offered as part of this ‘Caravan of Smiles.’ These include diabetes screening and treatment, disease prevention through childhood vaccination, oral health care, specific support for women’s health, and last but not least, general medicine,” announced Professor Milijaona Randrianarivelojosia from the Ministry of Public Health.
More than a thousand people will be able to benefit from these services. “We are targeting at least 1,500 people in the towns we will pass through,” the source added. This is the first action, and it will certainly not be the last.
