N1B National Championship: Three Teams Advance to N1A

The Madagascar N1B basketball championship concluded on Sunday in Moramanga. Six clubs secured their promotion to the N1A league, confirming the emergence of a new generation resulting from grassroots training.

In the women’s category, the final was won by Pintade Amoron’i Mania, who defeated Lucadro Analamanga with a score of 80 to 63. Despite the loss, Lucadro also earned its ticket to the higher division. The remaining top spots went to JEA Vakinankaratra, finishing third, and Phoenix Vakinankaratra, in fourth place.

In the men’s category, the suspense lasted until the very end. Fandrefiala Analamanga clinched the N1B national title after a close victory against NBE Analamanga (70-65). Both teams will join the N1A. The third-place spot went to ASB Itasy, while BCR Analamanga finished just off the podium.

In total, six clubs have advanced to the national elite: Lucadro Analamanga, Phoenix Vakinankaratra, and Pintade Amoron’i Mania in the women’s division, alongside Fandrefiala Analamanga, NBE Analamanga, and ASB Itasy in the men’s division. This promotion rewards the consistency and efforts made throughout the season.

Individual distinctions also highlighted several promising talents. Rajaobelina Noro Mendrikiainivo from Pintade was named MVP of the women’s competition, while Ravakiniaina Sarobidy from Lucadro finished as the top scorer with 86 points. In the men’s category, the MVP trophy went to Raobisaona Toky from Fandrefiala. The title of top scorer was awarded to Emame Valentin from NBE, thanks to an impressive total of 101 points.

This edition of the N1B national championship highlighted the quality of training work carried out in regional leagues. For Hasina Fanantenana Ramahandrimanana, president of the competition technical commission at the Madagascar Basketball Federation (FMBB), the future looks promising.

“It is encouraging to see that these clubs promoted to the N1A elite are composed of young players with an average age between the U18 and U20 categories. In the men’s game, the level is very high compared to the women, who still lack size at first glance. These players are the pure products of the U12 criterion,” he emphasized.

This observation confirms the relevance of the talent detection and training policy implemented by the federation for several years.

With the arrival of these six new members, the next N1A season promises to be particularly competitive. The newly promoted clubs will now face the arduous task of proving their potential against the giants of Malagasy basketball, while continuing the development of a generation destined to represent the national colors in the years to come.
