PARLIAMENTARY INQUIRY – Deputies scrutinize public funds

The management of public funds and the monitoring of presidential projects will be scrutinized by deputies. A parliamentary inquiry was launched yesterday at Tsimbazaza to verify the use of public resources, procurement procedures, and the execution of several projects.

“Monitoring the financing of presidential projects” is the main objective of this inquiry, explains Sylvestre Mahavitara, deputy elected in Vangaindrano and chairman of the commission in charge of the investigation. The investigations will be conducted based on the 2019 Finance Act and reports from the Court of Audit.

The work will be carried out with the participation of all parliamentary groups, including IRMAR, two independent deputies, and four elected members of Firaisankina. Exchanges will also be initiated with the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (ARMP), and the General Directorate of Projects and Partnership.

Several projects will be subject to verification. The Tana-Masoandro new city project, the Barea stadium, and the Fihariana project are among the files to be examined. Other projects officially attached to the Presidency, but whose implementation has been entrusted to ministries, will also be concerned, notably the Ehoala solar park, the Antananarivo-Toamasina highway project, etc.
