The Mpimasoa association continues to pass on the tradition of kabary with a new class of 480 orators, officially presented on October 26 at Antsahamanitra.
Kabary now has 480 new speakers. The Mpimasoa association celebrated their official graduation on October 26 at Antsahamanitra, during a ceremony held under the patronage of the Ministry of Communication and Culture.
In eight years, the number of graduates has grown from 40 to nearly 500. To support this growth, 40 kabary teachers have also been trained to strengthen the teaching staff.
The ceremony also honored members of the Mpimasoa board. The Ministry of Communication and Culture awarded them distinctions in the Order of Arts, Letters, and Culture. Eight recipients were elevated to the rank of Officer and eight others to that of Knight.
The next National Kabary Day, scheduled for January 15, 2027, will be marked by special celebrations. On this occasion, Madagascar will commemorate the fifth anniversary of the inscription of kabary as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Among the initiatives announced is the validation of acquired experience (VAE), intended to recognize the skills of mpikabary who meet the required criteria.
