The national selections continue their winning streak. Following the all-Malagasy final at the National de Bron a week ago, the final duel of the National Top 1000 in Charleville-Mézières was also an all-Malagasy affair last night. The triplet composed of Tafita Angelo Andriamahandry, Tiana Laurens Razanadrakoto (known as “Tonnerre”), and Jean Mickaël Ratolojanahary took their revenge, defeating Lova Satamandimby Rakotoarisoa, Faralahy Urbain Joseph Ramanantiaray (alias “Baloty”), and Steph James “Bondy” Rakotonirina—the winners in Bron—with a score of 13-11.
Tonnerre’s team had eliminated Christophe Carnet, Loïc Hugues, and Nicolas Piquard in the semi-finals, after knocking out Kylian Jean Georges and the brothers Jacky and Jordan Demestre in the quarter-finals. In the round of 16, the trio of Tonnerre, Tafita, and Mika defeated Willy Bouy, Bastian Larue, and Vincent Bay. Lova and his teammates beat the team of Romain Bane, Jean Philippe Santucci, and Stéphane Dath in the semi-finals. The triplet from the Great Island had previously eliminated David Françoise’s team in the quarter-finals, following a valuable victory against the team of Stéphane Robineau, Yohan Cousin, and Adrien Delahaye in the round of 16.
