TRANSPORT – Electric buses complete their mission

The Foton buses are returning to their base. After a month of service, they completed their shuttle mission yesterday for passengers traveling to or from the Amoronankona bus station. “These state-owned vehicles were used on a temporary basis,” explained Andry Michel Razafindraibe, the station manager, yesterday. Twenty-eight buses were deployed during the month.

This service is not disappearing, however. “Shuttles are still available,” the manager assured. They connect the station to major routes such as Ivato, Itaosy, and the Maki bus station for 2,000 ariary. At the same time, the Land Transport Agency (ATT) has launched a call for expressions of interest for the operation of a shuttle service serving the new station. These buses were announced at the time of the relocation of transporters from Fasan’ny Karana to the Amoronankona station.

The distance of the station remained a concern following this relocation. One traveler recounted having to take three buses from 67 Ha to get there. The Ministry of Transport has highlighted the shuttles and the urban train as solutions for passenger travel from the new station.
