The situation has reached a breaking point. “After numerous agreements and talks that led nowhere, it was time to move to the next stage,” declared Luc Mbolatiana Ratsimbaharison, president of the Union of Boulistes of Manjaka Tanana (UBMT), yesterday at the Ankatso boulodrome. The leader revealed and listed a series of irregularities in the management of the Malagasy Boules Sports Federation (FSBM): “A dozen clubs and several concerned players, ready to testify, are joining us to denounce the schemes and defend the common interest, especially that of the players.”
This group of protesters plans to first assess the situation and collect evidence before calling on the Ministry of Youth and Sports regarding “a portion of the players’ winnings at the 2025 Masters of Pétanque, amounting to more than 10,000 euros in the federation’s financial report, which were intended to fund Madagascar’s participation in the youth and women’s world championships.”
For its part, a source within the federation, acknowledging the facts, explained that “this matter is already closed and the players’ bonuses have been reimbursed.”
The UBMT president questioned: “Where did the aid from various sponsors and partners go?” The leader also mentioned the name of one of the coordinators facilitating travel abroad, who “is the source of the disagreement leading to Madagascar’s withdrawal from the 2026 Masters. He demanded 24,000 euros instead of the usual subsidy of about 9,000 euros in exchange for the presence of the Malagasy team.”
